How-to chat privately

A private chat is a private chat session between you and another user on IRC in which all messages are relayed through the IRC server.
You can chat privately with a person on IRC by doing any of the following:
1. Using the /MSG command in any window
2. Double-Clicking on a name in a channel nicklist to open a private message window
3. Right-Clicking on a name in a channel nicklist and choosing Private Chat to open a private message window
4. Clicking a name in your Notify menu to open a private message window
